Our Method

How Every Programme Begins

Enquiry and Description

You describe the clock — type, age and fault. We confirm which programme applies and provide the fixed price before anything moves.

Bench Assessment

The movement is opened and read. A written condition note records every part inspected and every fault identified before work begins.

03

Work, Test and Return

The programme is completed, the clock is tested for rate, and the owner receives both the clock and all programme documentation.

Programme One

Clock Movement Service

RM 520 per programme · 3–5 weeks

Cleaning, bushing and re-pivoting of mantel, wall and carriage clock movements, with strike and chime trains synchronised and the beat set on the bench and again in the home. Written for owners of household clocks that have grown noisy or stop at night. Includes a home visit for final setting within the Kinta Valley, a written condition note, and a 24-month service coverage period.

  • Full movement strip, ultrasonic clean and inspection
  • Pivot and bush assessment, worn bushings pressed out and renewed
  • Strike and chime trains synchronised and adjusted
  • Beat set on the bench and confirmed during home visit

Best For

Mantel, wall and carriage clocks that have grown noisy, run slow, stop overnight or whose chime and strike are no longer synchronised.

Programme Two

Mainspring & Barrel Renewal

RM 1,480 per programme · 2–3 weeks

Replacement of tired or set mainsprings, cleaning and re-greasing of the barrel, inspection of the click and ratchet, and a power reserve measurement taken before and after. Suited to pieces that run well when fully wound but lose rate towards the end of the day. Turnaround is two to three weeks. Supplied with a written power reserve chart and the retired spring returned in a labelled envelope.

Best For

Clocks that keep good time when freshly wound but lose rate in the second half of the power reserve — a classic sign of a fatigued or set mainspring.

Programme Three

Heritage Longcase Programme

RM 4,050 per programme · 10–16 weeks · Two site visits

An on-site and bench programme for longcase and regulator clocks, covering movement rebuilding, dial restoration, weight and pulley inspection, case joinery repair and levelling in the room where the clock stands. Intended for family pieces that have not run for years. The programme spans ten to sixteen weeks with two site visits. Owners receive a photographic record, a joinery and finish report, and a written maintenance calendar for the coming decade.

  • On-site first visit: assessment, movement removal, case inspection
  • Full movement rebuild on the bench, including all worn parts
  • Dial cleaning and conservative surface restoration
  • Weight, line and pulley inspection and service
  • Case joinery repair and levelling during second site visit
  • Photographic record, joinery report and decade maintenance calendar

Best For

Longcase and regulator clocks — grandfather clocks, grandmother clocks, regulators — that have not run for a number of years and may need case attention alongside movement work.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

All dismantled parts are cleaned ultrasonically before inspection. No residual lubricant or debris is carried into the reassembled movement.

Magnification Inspection

Every pivot, bush and wheel is inspected under magnification. Wear that cannot be seen with the naked eye is not left undocumented.

Written Outcome Every Time

Every programme produces a written document. The form changes by programme — condition note, power reserve chart or photographic record — but documentation is not optional.

Fixed Pricing, No Additions

The programme price confirmed before work begins is the price invoiced. No parts mark-up, no additional labour items appear on completion.

24-Month Coverage

Service-related faults arising within 24 months are addressed without additional charge. This coverage is written, not verbal.

Personal Communication

All enquiries, assessments and completion notifications come from the same people who attended to the clock. There is no intermediary layer between the bench and the owner.
