When Your Clock Deserves Careful Hands

Pendulyn is a bench workshop in the Kinta Valley dedicated to mantel, wall, carriage and longcase clocks. We work quietly and thoroughly — each movement opened, assessed and attended to on its own terms.

Why Pendulyn

What Sets This Workshop Apart

Movement Examined, Not Estimated

Every clock is opened and assessed before any price is confirmed. You receive a written condition note covering what was found and what was attended to.

Home Visit Included

For movement service work within the Kinta Valley, we come to your home for final beat-setting once the clock is back in position. The bench result and the living-room result are not always the same.

Written Records, Always

Each programme produces a document you can keep with the clock — a condition note, a power reserve chart or a photographic record, depending on the work done.

24-Month Coverage

Movement service work carries a 24-month coverage period. If a fault related to the service arises in that window, we address it without additional charge.

Realistic Timelines

We give turnaround estimates we can hold. Movement service: three to five weeks. Mainspring and barrel renewal: two to three weeks. Longcase programme: ten to sixteen weeks with two site visits.

Transparent Pricing

Our three programme fees are published and fixed per programme. No variable labour rates, no parts mark-up surprises after the work is done.

Common Questions

Before You Send Your Clock In

How do I get my clock to your workshop in Ipoh?
For smaller mantel and carriage clocks, you are welcome to bring the piece directly to us at 9 Jalan Sultan Iskandar, 30000 Ipoh. For longcase and regulator clocks, we arrange a site visit so the clock does not need to leave its room for the initial assessment. Contact us first and we will advise the most sensible approach for your piece.
Do you service quartz clocks or battery-operated pieces?
Our three current programmes focus on mechanical movements — weight-driven and spring-driven clocks with traditional gear trains. We do not currently offer electronic or quartz servicing. If you are unsure whether your clock is mechanical, please describe it to us and we will let you know.
What does the 24-month coverage include?
The coverage applies to faults that arise from the service work itself — for example, if a part we cleaned or adjusted develops a related fault within 24 months. Wear from general use, damage from an external event, or a second unrelated fault that was not present when the piece left our bench falls outside the coverage period. We will always explain clearly whether a returning fault is covered or not.
Can I choose which programme is right for my clock?
We will advise you. After an initial conversation or assessment, we will tell you which programme fits the fault and the condition of the piece. In some cases more than one programme may apply — for instance, a longcase that also needs its mainspring attended to. We quote each element separately so nothing is unclear.
Are replacement parts used in the work genuine period parts?
Where a replacement is needed — a mainspring, a bush, a worn pivot — we use quality bench materials appropriate to the movement. We do not re-use worn parts. For older pieces of heritage significance, we discuss the options with you before fitting anything that could affect originality.
How much does a basic assessment cost before committing to a programme?
For many enquiries, a short description of the fault and the type of clock is enough for us to recommend the right programme. If a bench assessment is needed before quoting, we will tell you upfront and agree the terms before the clock leaves your care.
Do you travel outside Ipoh for longcase work?
The Heritage Longcase Programme includes two site visits and is designed for clients within Perak. For locations further afield in Peninsular Malaysia, we are willing to discuss arrangements on a case-by-case basis. Travel outside the standard area may carry an additional travel allowance, which we agree in advance.
